30 Minute Tiger Moth Flight and Duxford Museum Entry
The Imperial War Museum This former RAF fighter airfield saw action during the Battle of Britain and is steeped in history. Today Duxford is Europe's premier aviation museum where you can discover an outstanding collection of over 150 historic aircraft from biplanes and spitfires to Concorde. What does the activity include? Taking off from the famous Duxford airfield you will experience a memorable 30 minute flight in this wonderful bi-plane. After a pre-flight briefing you'll take to the skies to re-live those days gone by. This is a real 'hands on' flying lesson and not just a tour around the countryside! This flight includes free entrance to the Imperial War Museum for the voucher holder. What should I wear? You will be issued with a leather flying jacket helmet and goggles. You should wear warm comfortable clothing and soft soled shoes. It is advisable for ladies to wear trousers rather than skirts. In winter additional layers are advisable as these aircraft are not heated. How long should I allow for this experience? You should allow approximately one hour for the experience itself but you are welcome to spend as much time at the museum as you would like up until closing time. Participants are required to arrive 45 minutes prior to their flight time. When does the activity take place? Flights operate March to October. We recommend you book at least four weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available before the expiry date listed on the voucher. This is only a guideline and we advise you book as early as possible to avoid disappointment. You must book and take your experience before the expiry date. All bookings are subject to availability. Are there any restrictions? Minimum age 16 years. Maximum height 6 foot 4 ins. Maximum weight 16 Stone There are no specific medical requirements but the flight is exciting and exhilarating. If in doubt please ask your doctors opinion. What about the weather? As with most forms of air sports they can be affected by weather conditions. If however your experience cannot take place due to the adverse weather an alternative date will be offered to you. Can I bring spectators? Spectators are welcome there is a charge to enter the museum but this will be half the usual entry fee. What else do I need to know? Your voucher is valid for nine months from the date of issue. Personal accident & cancellation insurance are included. Kindly note that each centre has their own cancellation policy and fees. 40 Minute Tiger Moth Flight
40 minutes of vintage flying in a Tiger Moth. Experience the lost delight of the golden age of flying. Face the thrill of this vintage bi-plane as you soar through the skies with the greatest of ease. This 40 minute flight will allow you to experience the true freedom of the skies as you get to grips with this historic aircraft - you will even have the chance to take the controls and really see what it can do! Please arrive at the venue at least 15 minutes before your start time. On arrival at the venue you will receive a full safety briefing. Then you will be kitted out in jacket, headset and helmet before taking to the skies for the time of your life! After disembarking there will be a short certificate presentation.On purchasing this experience you will be issued with a voucher valid for ten months. You are then free to choose your preferred location and arrange a mutually convenient time for your flight with the operator. Please note that there is no minimum age but participants must be 4 '11 ' '. Maximum height is 6 '4 ' '. Maximum weight is 16 stone. You should wear soft sold shoes. All flights are taken by expert pilots who are experienced instructors and all aircraft have dual controls. Please be advised this may not be suitable for persons who are pregnant, suffer from epilepsy, fits, severe head injuries, recurrent fainting, giddiness or blackouts, high blood pressure, or heart conditions. For their own safety diabetics may be required to produce a medical certificate. Disabled participants are welcome (please discuss with the operator). Cameras can be used on the day and on the ground by relatives, even around the planes, but they are prohibited inside the cockpit for safety reasons. Spectators are welcome at no additional cost. Please note that the aircraft used at the Gloucestershire location is actually a Stampe SV4c which is virtually identical to a Tiger Moth.
